Alice and me met Sam after school and went to feed the ducks at Woodford Park. It was freezing but the ducks were very pleased to see us - or at least our bread! We saw Sam's teacher running in the park leading the cross country running club.

Happy Birthday Cath day! And only one more sleep till Emily's birthday. I think Emily might burst with excitement. Today Alice and me made a froggy birthday cake for Emily as she is into frogs at the moment. When Emily came home from school she put the finishing touches to it doing the eyes and mouth with icing.

Today was sort out the wardrobe day. Inevitably this involved making a lot of mess in the process. Here is a pic of the clothes mountain. The result ws 7 bin bags of clothes for the charity shop and lots being chucked out. Now that's better!

Emily was worried about Amber being lonely since Heather died. She has been giving her lots of attention and built this den for her.

Friday, 23 January 2009

I went to Reading today to buy Emily's birthday presents. This flower stall was a splash of colour on an otherwise grey and gloomy day.

Thursday 23rd January

Hooray! i have brought my blog up to date at last. Today's photo shows Alice with her first reading book. The teacher put her straight on to book with words - albeit 3 words which repeat a lot!

We are also growing a hyacinth from a bulb. Alice took the photo to show the roots getting very long. The plant is just shooting too. hopefully it will flower for Alice's birthday.

Wednesday 21st January

Today was the Governor's tea Party which we host annually in our appreciation of the teaching staff. They come after school and the governors serve them drinks and cake and we all have a chat. It went swimmingly and for the first time ever my scones turned out beautifully.

Alice's First Day at School! There was great excitement this morning and the girls were up and dressed by 7.15am. Emily was very helpful in getting Alice ready and accompanied us to Alice's new classsroom.

Today was spent preparing for going back to school. The girls and me went looking for black pumps for Alice (I'm sure it wasn't so difficult in my day!) . Em treated Alice to a packet of felt tips as a starting school present, then sewed the name tapes into Alice's uniform for me. Emily is very proud of Alice starting school.

It was a beatuiful bright but very cold day today. We had a lovely family walk at Henley. Emily roller bladed and managed not to fall in the Thames. I was looking hot in this burglar's hat and had to keep fending off admirers.

Alice and me met up with some pre-school friends at Monkey Mates. The kids all wanted to play outside in spite of the cold.

Later on Chris and June visited us for a meal while they are over from Germany.
